I used stiff cord material for the loop on the ornaments so that Kyra can use both hands.
I used Push pins on the tree to hold the ornaments.

Cutting and lacing straws
Beads are heavy and offer a little more ease in handling them. Cut straws were light and if you don't hold them gently they will not work, great way to teach her to relax hand and then work.
